NEWPORT BEACH — Blake Kelly scored five goals for the Sailors in their Sunset League opener Wednesday at Newport Harbor High.

Zach Lucas added four goals, five assists and two steals, while Harry Tingler scored two goals and had an assist. Jack Yeager had three steals, three assists and a goal for Newport Harbor (10-1, 1-0 in league).

Sailors goalie Ikika Sarme had six saves, including one on a five-meter penalty shot attempt. Chris Whitelegge had four saves for Newport Harbor, which plays in the 16th annual S&R; Sport Cup that starts Friday at Irvine High. The Sailors open against Clovis West at 10 a.m.

CORONA DEL MAR — Max Bergeson had four goals, three steals and an assist for the Sea Kings in their Pacific Coast League opener Wednesday.

Hayden Leach and Chase Watson scored three goals each, while goalie Isle Anderson led CdM (9-2, 1-0 in league) with eight saves. Sea Kings goalie Bruce Bearer had three saves. CdM outscored the Hawks, 11-4, in the first half.

The Sea Kings will compete in the two-day S&R; Sport Cup, staring Friday at Irvine High. They open against Bellarmine at 12:10 p.m.

SANTA ANA — Senior Morgan Moody shot five-over-par 41 for the undefeated Sailors in the nonleague match at Santa Ana Country Club Wednesday.

Seniors Lauren Draganza (42), Lindsey Hanna (44) and Ali Thomas (45), as well as sophomore Charlotte Skjonsby (46) also scored for Newport Harbor (12-0).
