Newport girls’ golf remains perfect

FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Newport Harbor High seniors Morgan Moody and Lauren Draganza both shot two-over-par 38 to share medalist honors for the undefeated girls’ golf team in the Sunset League match at Mile Square Golf Course Thursday.

Lindsey Hanna shot 42, while Ali Thomas and Casey Jones each carded a 43 for Newport Harbor (13-0, 6-0 in league).

ANAHEIM — Kirby Burnham had 19 kills and Katey Thompson added 15 kills to lead the Sailors to a 31-29, 25-11, 25-16 Sunset League win Thursday.

Cinnamon Sary had 34 assists, while Kelly Hennan had 12 digs and four aces for Newport Harbor (14-3, 2-0 in league), ranked No. 5 in the nation by ESPN RISE FAB 50.

The Sailors, ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section Division I-AA, play host to No. 2-ranked Los Alamitos Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. The Griffins are ranked No. 20 by ESPN.

IRVINE — Hailey Senske had seven kills to help lead the Sea Kings to a 25-10, 25-22, 25-16 Pacific Coast League win Thursday.

Amanda Nickel had four aces and Megan Griffin added 14 assists for CdM (11-3, 2-0 in league), ranked No. 2 in CIF Southern Section Division II-AA.

The Sea Kings play host to University Monday at 5:30 p.m.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Kim Haycraft shot two-over-par 33 to earn medalist honors to help the Eagles stay undefeated in the Golden West League at David L. Baker Golf Course Thursday.

Ashley Peters shot 35, Lissa Morel 39, while Cassie Stevenson and Frankie Thorpe both shot 43 for Estancia (13-2, 6-0 in league).

The Eagles play against Huntington Beach Monday, again at David L. Baker Golf Course.

Tess Crane shot 40, Hyebin Hong 46, while Ashley Varner and Lisa Chan both shot 47 for CdM (11-6, 5-2 in league).

COSTA MESA — Claire Layton scored two goals to help the Sailors stay undefeated in the Sunset League at Harper Elementary School Thursday.

Lauren Chandler and Claire Ramser each had a goal and an assist, while Brooke Nelson scored a goal for Newport Harbor (6-1, 4-0 in league). Zoie Wolfe and Lauren Grupe had an assist each, while goalie Sydney King recorded four saves for the Sailors.

ANAHEIM — The Sailors’ No. 1 doubles team of Christina Young and Ricki Archie swept, improving to 9-0 in the Sunset League Thursday.

Samantha Stalder, Rebecca Young and Blake Bakkila won two sets each in singles for Newport Harbor (8-3, 3-0 in league), which plays host to Los Alamitos Tuesday at 3 p.m.
