FAIRFAX — UC Irvine placed eighth, as Tuesday’s final round was washed out due to heavy rain and wind at The Meadow Club.

Host UC Berkeley won the 15-team tournament with a 36-hole score of 23-under-par 545. Oregon was second at 550, Colorado third at 555 and UCI shot 565 in Monday’s two rounds.

Stephen Hale of Cal was the medalist at 10-under 132 on rounds of 68-64 and San Diego State’s Johann Carlsson placed second at 133 (68-65).

UCI senior John Chin (70-70) and freshman Jerry He (69-71) tied for 19th place at two-under 140. Senior Tim Cha was 41st at 144 (68-76), freshman Mickey Chan placed 47th at 146 (76-70) and junior Max Greil finished 67th at 150 (71-79).

The Anteaters play on Oct. 22-23 in the Del Walker Intercollegiate at Virginia Country Club in Long Beach.

IRVINE — Freshman midfielder Kallie Ryker scored three unassisted second-half goals in the Pirates’ Orange Empire Conference match Tuesday.

Goalkeeper Alyssa Simon made two saves for OCC (10-2, 6-2 in conference).

OCC dropped to 7-5, 4-1 in conference.

Concordia def. Vanguard

COSTA MESA — Senior outside hitter Kelsey Wirt finished with 26 kills and 16 digs, but No. 3-ranked Concordia defeated the No. 10 Lions, 22-25, 25-23, 22-25, 25-23, 17-15, in a Golden State Athletic Conference match Tuesday.

Jamie Heenan contributed 13 kills, 11 digs and four service aces for Vanguard (13-7, 7-4 in conference).

LAS CRUCES, N.M. — UC Irvine dropped to second place after the second round at the New Mexico State University Golf Course Tuesday, but the Anteaters are one shot behind heading into the final day today.

UCI improved in the second round with a team score of 209, but fell to second place with a score of 584 (294-290), one shot behind Idaho, who fired a tournament-best 287 Monday and owns a 54-hole total of 583 (296-287).

UCI sophomore Joy Trotter is tied for third with a two-day total of 143 (69-74), while Hillary Packard is fifth (144) after shooting a one-under par 71 Tuesday. Senior Henna Cho is tied for 16th after firing an even par 72 and recording a 54-hole score of 148 (76-72).
