Husband, 75, faces murder charges

Prosecutors have upped the charges — from attempted murder to murder — against a Costa Mesa man, Kenneth Leake, 75, who allegedly shot his wife in the head.

Doris Leake, 72, his wife of 50 years, died Oct. 8 from swelling in the brain related to the gunshots, the Orange County district attorney’s office said in a news release issued late Thursday.

She was shot four times in the head Sept. 21.

Kenneth Leake will be arraigned Friday. He faces up to 50 years to life in prison, if convicted.
