District to discuss kids’ technology use
Learning isn’t just for the kids at an event to help parents learn about their kids and technology.
The Huntington Beach City School District’s 11th annual Parent Empowerment Academy will discuss the issues children face with technology. The event will focus on the dilemmas cell phones, computers, video games and TVs create for children when an adult isn’t around.
Keynote speaker Karen Ogden, a contributor to the “Temptation for a Generation†book series, will discuss how technology can be used positively to create open communication.
Children in fourth through eighth grade can participate in a free program on how they can use technology appropriately while their parents are at the event.
The academy starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the district’s board room.
