What ever happened to the Art?

I followed the art debate over what sculptures would be in front of the Community/Senior Center on Third Street. As we allknow, public art often accompanies public buildings. Nowas I drive by this magnificient building, I see no Art! I see thesycamore tree that defeated the whale sculpture. This small tree with it’s dry brown leaves. Is this tree suppose to upliftthe spirit of the seniors in the autumn of our lives? Oh, if you look closely you see a bench with something underneath it.

Perhaps some homeless shoes and attire. If you walk up to the bench, it’s really not a bad design for a more intimate courtyard setting. Personally, I would have left out the two melting popsicle’s on top.

I followed the newspaper articles, and saw the models of Jon Seeman’s three piece sculptural ensemble. I read where he received unanimous approval by the “Arts Commission”.

If some great botanical arrangement is to replace the three proposed art pieces, then, what happened? The vegetation seems to be nearly overgrown on the upper right half of the building. On the lower half, there is a large, long nearly empty planter. This half of the building looks more like a fortress.

Who was the landscape designer? They did have one, didn’t they?
