High Achievers

Delayed gratification paid off for five Adams Elementary students, who spent Saturday being chauffeured with their former teachers through Newport Beach and Laguna Beach due to their achieving perfect or near-perfect scores on a state test.

“The goal was set last September by the teachers and the students that if they got a perfect score of 600 on the test, they would get a limo ride,” Principal Candy Cloud said.

More than a year later, the winning students — Ashley Kumar, Jillian Hughes, Jackson Winters, Cooper Griffen and Matthew Forbath — drank soft drinks from champagne glasses and mugged as celebrities.
