Look out! Zombies are coming

Zombies will be prowling the Balboa Peninsula this Saturday in search of drink specials..

Organizers of Newport’s first Zombie Pub Crawl expect at least 400 people to show up for the event in zombie attire.

“It’s going to be a day of booze and brains,” said Morgan Slauson, one of the organizers of the event. “It will look like an old movie with hundreds of zombies walking the streets.”

The 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. event will feature free food, a zombie dance contest and door prizes. Complimentary hair and makeup artists from the Paul Mitchell School also will be on hand to give partygoers zombie makeovers.

The pub crawl will begin at the Newport Beach Brewing Co., 2920 Newport Blvd. A complete schedule, as well as recipes for homemade blood and fake skin, can be found at www.localhipster.com/zombies.
