It is apparent that young people are involving themselves in sexual conduct with a very shortsighted application of lips to loquaciousness.

The sense of shame must feel tremendous, and I fear these young ladies could fall prey to other senseless acts akin to drinking and drugs, all used to forget unprepared-for feelings that surface after the morning light has shined through.

Youth is a tender time of discovering new talents, learning to cope with new feelings, and an unbridled existence of freedom.

There are books to read, walks to walk, and the truth has become so buried its life barely attains recognition.

As responsible adults, the community should squash these new trends of sexuality among young people.

We owe young people a future, not just a marketer’s fantasy of successful subliminal seduction.

Women who achieve respect should be our role models, for the pavement they set in place is a road of mentally healthy living. Young people under the age of consent need parental supervision and role models. Get involved in bringing respect to our children and youth.

Team up with teachers and make it an issue of importance to stop underage sex.

No matter how hard they cry and wail, the respect young people yearn for will enter and form a place of foundation for their lives.

New city editor was a great choice

Thank you for selecting Imran Vittachi as city editor for your fine paper. His article Friday titled, “Where art, politics intersect” was thoughtful and well written.

Not only his comments about China, but his statements about “Nobel Obama” provide insights I don’t often hear in Newport Beach.

Your choice of a person who belongs to Sri Lanka, France, Britain and the U.S. adds a much needed perspective to our mostly white community.

Keep it up!
