Democratic Club to hold Art Walk gathering

The Laguna Beach Democratic Club will gather from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 5 at Picayo Restaurant, 610 N. Coast Hwy., before heading out on the town for Art Walk.

The event features complimentary food tasting, special drink prices and a raffle while enjoying the company of other Democrats and supporting a local business.

Library bookstore to close temporarily

The Laguna Beach Library bookstore will close Tuesday and reopen Nov. 7 due to the renovation project now under way at the library, Friends of the Library President Martha Lydick said. The library is at 363 Glenneyre St.

Workshop for Laguna nonprofits is Tuesday

The Laguna Beach Community Foundation will present a panel of local certificed public accountants discussing the topic, “Keeping the IRS Off Your Nonprofit’s Back” from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The workshop will be at the Aliso Creek Inn, Green Room, 31106 Coast Hwy.

The volunteer panel of experts includes Robert Gamez, and foundation trustee and treasurer; Ted Alvarez; and Russ Cogdill.

The panel will provide information on tax return compliance such as filing requirements, audit possibilities; insurance needs; board of directors’ responsibilities for policy statements, tax returns and insurance policies; and record-keeping rules and other governance issues.

Although not specific tax advice, the candid information will provide guidelines and resources to help those responsible for these activities.

Marine Mammal Masquerade Sunday

The fourth annual Marine Mammal Masquerade at Mozambique will support the center’s many activities and services dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of Southern California’s marine mammal population.

The “Carnivale”-themed festive occasion will include South African cuisine dinner, fine wine, a special guest live band with a “Bossa Nova” beat, opportunity drawing for a 10-day Galapagos excursion, a live auction and many unique pieces of art created by local artists just for the event.

The event will be from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday at Mozambique, 1740 S. Coast Hwy. Tickets are $150 per person.
