Golf classic nets more than $60,000
A local service organization raised more than $60,000 for academic and enrichment programs for the low-income Oak View community in Huntington Beach.
El Viento Foundation raised the funds at its fourth annual golf classic Oct. 19. More than 100 golfers came out to support the event and participated in a round of golf, live auctions and a Chinese raffle.
The organization works with students from fourth to 12th grade by providing them with college scholarships and assisting them with educational and leadership skills. El Viento was started in 1997 by a group of Orange County residents. The organization has more than 160 students in its programs.
