Cocktail party

Bloomingdale’s and Elle are throwing a cocktail party and fashion show to celebrate the exciting arrival of the Ports 1961 pre-spring 2010 collection by designer Tia Cibani Thursday at Bloomingdale’s South Coast Plaza.

One fashion critic recently wrote of the Cibani’s creations: “Using a palette of pale rose, ivory and the occasional (and beautiful) crimson, Cibani has created a starkly elegant and innovative collection replete with alluring fan shapes and large, draping cowl backs. Particularly inspiring were the fabrics alone, which set man-made materials like aluminum against traditional silk, cotton, light wool and linen. One was left with the impression that these were clothes a woman like Grace Kelly might have worn ...”

Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by a fashion show and shopping. Bloomingdale’s at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. Call to Erin Bianchi at (714) 824-4839.
