Woman’s Club hosts silent auction, luncheon

The Woman’s Club of Laguna Beach’s Tarnished Treasures and Silent Auction Luncheon will take place at 11 a.m. Dec. 4 at the clubhouse, 286 St. Ann’s Drive.

The annual event features jewelry, collectibles, artwork and other treasures at bargain prices, plus silent auction items including gift certificates from local merchants, Pageant of the Masters tickets and more.

Tickets are $20 for Woman’s Club members and $25 for nonmembers. Reservations in advance recommended, limited seating available.

Donations can be dropped off at the clubhouse from 2 to 5 p.m. Dec. 3. Unsold items will be distributed at the club’s Low Income Family Holiday Party on Dec. 11. Any new and gently used clothing, toys, collectibles and small household items are needed; no large furniture.

RUFF Thanksgiving planned to raise funds

RUFF (Rescuing Unwanted Furry Friends) is hosting its annual Thanksgiving lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 26 at Tivoli Terrace, 650 Laguna Canyon Road.

Sociable four-legged friends invited. Cost is $35 for adults, $15 for children younger than 12.

Proceeds go toward saving unwanted, abandoned or displaced animals in Southern California and to providing financial assistance to pet owners struggling to pay veterinary bills.

Tree lighting planned

The 13th annual Crystal Cove Coastal Tree-Lighting Ceremony is planned for Dec. 5. The historic cottages will be transformed with holiday lights, vintage decorations, giant candy canes and Frosty’s distant cousin “Sandy,” a snowman made out of sand.

Festivities will begin at 3 p.m. and include holiday tunes performed live by jazz vocalist Brenna Whitaker, hot apple cider provided by the Beachcomber Café, and a visit from Santa Claus.

At sunset, about 4:30 p.m., the only holiday tree displayed on the beach along the California coast will be lit. The event, hosted by Crystal Cove Alliance, is free and open to the general public.

Birmingham named honorary chairman

James Birmingham, managing director of the Montage Resort & Spa has been named honorary chairman for the Laguna Beach Seniors Legacy Ball 2010. A date for the event has not been announced.

Hortense Miller Garden seeks new docents

The Hortense Miller Garden is looking for new docents. A docent training session will be conducted soon.
