That’s Debatable

Every Thanksgiving, as well as Easter, my family invites people over for a traditional banquet. Our nearest relatives are far away, so we decided to create our own tradition for these two key holidays. We invite over friends who have no local family as well as friends who are financially strapped. For the day, they become our extended family. I would encourage all who have the means and the willingness to remember those less fortunate and help them during the year.

On Thanksgiving, our nation comes together as a family to celebrate and give thanks for our many riches. Like a family that welcomes relatives and friends to our tables, our nation puts cultural and social differences aside to join together and appreciate our common American heritage. It is a holiday that unifies us. On this day of giving thanks, I plan to celebrate with my family, recognizing the many blessings we have received including the addition of our healthy new granddaughter, Chloe.
