Mailbag: What readers are thankful for

Editor’s note: In observance of Thanksgiving, readers have submitted letters expressing what they are grateful for.

Here because of hubby

I am still residing on this earth because of my husband, Richard Flaxman. When I met him 14 years ago, I was a very sick and heartbroken woman. I had lost six members of my immediate family within two months, four of them murdered. I wanted to join them.

I’m not sure what he saw in this broken human being, but the sweetest man in the world wrapped his arms around me, held on to me, married me and has loved me like no one else in this world could! That’s happiness!

Thankful for my family and doctors

I am thankful for my family: my mom and Don, dad and Ellen, my wife, Laurie, and daughters, Megan and Page. My family has always been by my side and taken care of me. My friends have been wonderful to me as well; I am very grateful for their support. I appreciate all of the help I have received from my doctors and the medical community as well. I have a wonderful life and enjoy each day.

Love the beach and my extended family

As a little girl from Barstow, I am grateful every day for being able to live and work in Newport Beach; I’m grateful for my creative and talented business partner, Cora Newman; for my many friends; for my kids, Gray and wife, Carolyn, and daughter, Michele; and my very special grandchildren, Cleo, Jasper and Keller. But most of all, I am grateful for my loving and supportive husband, John, who lights up my life. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

To all the girls and one boy

This year we give thanks for our rapidly expanding family including grandchildren Brooke and Alexandra plus eight other new babies in the family tree. All but one are girls.

Happy Thanksgiving and holiday season to all.

FROM THE KIDS

I am thankful for my friends and family. I am also thankful for all the food I get and that I get three servings a day. Also for the bed I sleep in and the roof over my head. I am also thankful for all the wonderful accessories that I am privileged to have.

Taylor Wildman

I am thankful for having a roof on my head for my family. I can’t live without my house and my mom and dad. If I did not have those people or things I would go crazy and beg for money and starve to death. I can’t wait to say what I am thankful for at Thanksgiving.

Cody Wildman

I am thankful for my family, friends, and everyone who cares for me. My family feeds me, shelters me, and gives me everything I need to sustain life, and that’s all I can ask for. I love them so much and they mean everything and more to me. I don’t know what I would do without them. I couldn’t ask for a better set of people that love me.

Love my Marine!

I am so thankful for my boyfriend, Staff Sgt. Lewis W. Layton III, and the United States Marine Corps. Not only does Lew make me laugh, and help me with the laundry, but he and our brave Marine Corps protect our country so we can all safely enjoy our Thanksgiving meals with loved ones. I am utterly grateful to get to spend the holidays with him this year; I know many families are not so fortunate. Please pray for those overseas this season, no matter what your political beliefs may be.
