Emeritus painting exhibition opens

The Irvine Valley College Emeritus Institute will present the Winter ’09 Painting Exhibition at the Susi Senior Center, Wednesday through Jan. 28. The exhibition includes watercolor, oil, collage and monoprint images and a variety of painting techniques.

The students work with Pam Schader, who teaches a range of students from beginners to advanced.

“In each case, the work represents the artist declaring his/her artistic sensibility, sense of experimentation and is a reflection of the unique personal experience of being human,” she said.

The exhibition is free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at 380 Third St.

Jacqi Bowe show coming to Susi Q

Singer, dancer and comedienne Jacqi Bowe, winner of the Carol Burnett Comedy Contest, will bring her variety show to the Susi Q Senior Center from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 11.

Bowe’s show is a combination of Broadway show tunes, jazz, ballet and tap dance, comedy and novelty ukulele songs.

She earned a degree in theater arts at UCLA and has appeared on screen, television and stage. Tickets are $5. Call (949) 497-2441 to make your reservation.

Drop in for bridge game at Susi Q

Bridge enthusiasts are invited to stop by the Susi Q game room for a free Drop-in Bridge from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday and Wednesday. Attendees may bring a partner or organize their own foursome. For more information, call (949) 497-2441.

Seniors host holiday luncheon Dec. 14

Laguna Beach Seniors will host its 2009 Annual Holiday Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 14. Members, friends and family will enjoy a traditional turkey feast, good company, entertainment and prizes at Tivoli Terrace, 650 Laguna Canyon Road.

Holiday floral class offered Dec. 14

Debby Neville will teach a holiday floral arrangement class where participants will learn to design an arrangement that they can take home and enjoy for the holidays. The class will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Susi Q Senior Center, 380 Third St. Cost is $45, which includes all material fees. To register, call (949) 497-2441. You must register by the Friday before the class.
