SAN CLEMENTE — Senior Elizabeth Eddy and junior Natalie Swift scored to help the Sailors overcome an own-goal in the nonleague game Thursday at San Clemente High.

Freshman Jill Messersmith earned the assist on Swift’s game-winner in the 77th minute. Emily Brown had four saves for the Tars (1-1).

CORONA DEL MAR — Sophomore Allyson Brahs scored two first-half goals, while senior Hayley Raguse had a goal and an assist to pace the Sea Kings in their nonleague home contest Thursday.

Nikki Flinn added an assist for CdM (1-0-1), which received two saves from Sarah Cox and one from Savannah Vaughn.

Estancia fell to 0-1-1.

CORONA DEL MAR — Junior center Caro van der Velde finished with 12 points, 16 rebounds and six blocks for the Sea Kings in the semifinals of the CdM Tip-Off Tournament Thursday night.

Karleh Wilson sparked CdM (3-0) with nine points in the second half.

The Sea Kings reached Saturday’s championship at Northwood High, where they will play the winner of tonight’s Newport Harbor-Northwood game.

IRVINE — Hannah Jeffrey produced a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds for the Lightning in their season opener Thursday.

Ava Soleimany and Hana Hunt scored 10 points each for Sage Hill, which plays host to Connelly Monday at 7 p.m.

Newport Harbor 45,

Canyon Crest 35

SAN DIEGO — Chris Anderson and Clay Friend scored 11 points each for the Sailors in a pool-play game of the Canyon Crest Invitational Thursday.

Ethan Ayres had nine points and Austin Bagby had eight points for Newport Harbor (1-1), which will play today at 7 p.m. against Preuss to end pool play.

Costa Mesa 45

WESTMINSTER — Andrew Albers had 18 points and six rebounds for the Mustangs in the consolation semifinals of the Aztec Shootout at La Quinta High Thursday.

Brian Waldron and Hugo Contreras had seven points for Costa Mesa (1-2), which will finish play in the tournament Saturday.
