Woman dies in ambulance crash

A Huntington Beach woman being transported home in an ambulance was fatally injured when two other cars crashed into the emergency vehicle Wednesday afternoon, according to a preliminary investigation by the Fountain Valley Police Department.

Lucy Solares, 68, was inside the ambulance when it overturned and collided with another vehicle, officials said. Solares died at the scene, according to the department.

The ambulance was taking Solares home Wednesday afternoon when the collision occurred on Euclid Street at the intersection with the 405 Freeway offramp in Fountain Valley. Three drivers involved in the crash were taken to the hospital for non-fatal injuries, according to the department.

The Fountain Valley Police Department is investigating the case to find out the cause of the collision and is requesting that witnesses or anyone with information contact the Traffic Bureau at (714) 593-4481.
