ANAHEIM — Senior Kohl Jones scored 16 points to pace the Eagles in a consolation game of the Fairmont Prep Tournament Saturday at Fairmont Prep.

Jones was named to the all-tournament team.

Devon Joyner (12 points), Wes Shaw (11) and Ray Holmes (nine) also helped the Eagles improve to 8-4.

The Eagles return to action Saturday when they play host to Laguna Hills in the first round of the Coast Classic at Estancia at 6:15 p.m.

NEWPORT COAST — Kevin Schaefer scored 12 points for the Lightning in the nonleague game Saturday.

Mark Loper and Patrick Vorwerck added 11 points each for Sage Hill (6-2), which plays host to California Academy of Math and Science Tuesday.

SANTA ANA — Sophomore Sarah Cox made four saves and the Sea Kings outshot the Comanches in the final round of pool play Saturday at the Mater Dei Tournament at Mater Dei High.

The loss ended the tournament for CdM (4-3-2).

Coach Bryan Middleton said Allyson Brahs was credited with a goal Friday that was originally reported as an own-goal against Los Alamitos.

CdM returns to action Dec. 28, when it faces West Torrance in the opener of the North Orange County Classic at 9:30 a.m. at Cypress College.

In addition, Middleton reported that the CdM frosh-soph team advanced to the final of the Edison Invitational, losing Saturday, 2-1, to El Toro.

Middleton, who guided the team in the final, filling in for a coach who could not attend, singled out goalkeeper Olivia Dajee, defender Jennifer Bergsma, as well as Katie Groke, who scored the lone goal against El Toro.

SANTA ANA —Alex Morton had a season-high 28 points and added 19 rebounds, two shy of her season best, in the consolation game of the Segerstrom Tournament Saturday at Segerstrom High.

Kasey Thompson had eight points, five rebounds and three steals, while Coleen Mead chipped in five points, five assists and three rebounds for the Sailors (5-5).

Newport Harbor plays host to Corona del Mar in the Battle of the Bay showdown, Monday at 6 p.m.
