PORTLAND, Ore. — Senior forward Austin Bagby finished with 14 points in the Sailors’ first-round game at the North Marion Classic Monday.

Cody Caldwell contributed 13 points and Chad Seeber had 11.

Newport Harbor (5-3) resumes tournament play today against North Horizon at 4 p.m.

SANTA ANA — Junior guard Ramon Mejia scored 19 points in the nonleague game Monday night at Foothill.

CdM (6-3) fell behind, 18-8, after one quarter and trailed, 36-23, at halftime, before cutting the deficit to four heading into the final period.

Junior Danny Cheek had eight points for CdM.

Foothill, coached by former Estancia assistant Rusty Van Cleave, is 9-1.

Marina 73, Costa Mesa 32

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Junior Matt Dimson had eight points and Connor Metcalfe added seven for the visiting Mustangs in the nonleague game Monday.

Costa Mesa, which saw its losing streak extended to eight, is now 1-9.

PLACENTIA — Ricky Gomez scored twice Monday to propel the Eagles into today’s semifinals of the Valencia Tournament at Valencia High.

Martin Garcia and Rafael Gomez also had goals for Estancia, which received three saves from goalkeeper Edgar Vega.

Sophomore fullback Robert Anaya stood out on defense, Coach Robert Castellano said.

Estancia plays California High today at 10 a.m. The title game is at 1 p.m. today.
