One driver was killed and three people were injured in a fiery Christmas Eve crash on East Coast Highway, near Jamboree Road, authorities said.

At about 5:12 p.m., a westbound Ferrari lost control along East Coast Highway, jumping the median and smashing head-on into a tow truck that was heading in the opposite direction, police said, citing an initial investigation. There were two people in each vehicle.

The Ferrari’s driver was killed, and the vehicle caught fire, police said. Firefighters were able to rescue the sports car’s passenger, taking that person to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana. The tow truck’s driver and passenger were taken to Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian with minor injuries.
