MISSION VIEJO — The Sea Kings blanked the team ranked No. 1 in the nation in the ESPN Rise poll in pool play at the South Coast Classic Monday at Mission Viejo High.

Chris Burke and Reed Williams each scored and Connor Gaal had 10 saves for the Sea Kings. Williams, a UCLA-bound senior, has 18 goals and has scored in every game.

Corona del Mar (8-0) plays Dana Hills tonight at 6:30.

Corona del Mar High defeated Ramona Convent, 3-1, and tied West Torrance, 1-1, in pool play Monday.

Paige Sigband, Maddie O’Connor, Aleza Manatas and Karsten Sigband scored for CdM Monday.

Corona del Mar (5-3-3) won its pool and plays Mayfair in a group semifinal today at 11 a.m.

SAN FRANCISCO — Junior Ramon Mejia had 15 points and eight steals to lead the Sea Kings in the opening round of the St. Ignatius Tournament Monday at St. Ignatius Prep.

Spencer Haly had nine rebounds for CdM (8-3), which meets Santa Cruz in a semifinal today at 2:30 p.m.

LAS VEGAS — Senior forward Frank Shapiro scored 16 points for the Lightning in the first round of the Las Vegas Invitational at Mountain View Christian High Monday.

Junior Mark Loper had 12 points and six assists, while senior John Picarelli added 11 points for Sage Hill (8-2).

The Lightning resume tournament play today at 1:30 p.m.

TEMECULA — Brian Simrak had 20 points and 13 rebounds and Andrew Albers added 20 points for the Mustangs in the opening round of the Linfield Christian Tournament Monday.

Adam Huoisz had 11 points and Brian Waldron chipped in nine points, six assists and four steals for Mesa (1-11).

COSTA MESA — Sophomore Kasey Thompson had 14 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Sailors in the consolation quarterfinal of the Costa Mesa Tournament Monday at Costa Mesa High.

Alex Morton had 12 points and six rebounds, Coleen Mead had nine assists and four steals and Maiquel McCleish had nine points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals for the Sailors, who improved to 7-6.

Mandy Legault had six points and three steals for the Tars, who face Tustin today at noon.
