Rainbow will dispose of trees

Huntington Beach residents can start the new year green by recycling their Christmas trees and boxes from the holidays.

Rainbow Disposal Co., Inc. is collecting trees and flattened cardboard boxes until Jan. 15 from Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley and Sunset Beach.

The trees have to be shorter than six feet, and all ornaments, lights and tree stands need to be removed. Rainbow Disposal recommends cutting larger trees in half.

The trees will be collected separately from the trash, so put them next to carts or bins.

Cardboard boxes should also be placed next to the blue recycling cart or next to the trash bin in an apartment complex.

All material will be recycled at Rainbow Disposal’s material recovery facility.

Residents who miss the Jan. 15 deadline can still recycle their trees and boxes by calling Rainbow Disposal.

The service is free four times a year.

Call (714) 847-3581 and request a “10/4” pick-up.
