COSTA MESA — Guard Chad Delaney had 16 points for the Pirates in an Orange Empire Conference opener on Wednesday night.

Landon Brown added 11 points and converted eight of 10 free-throw attempts for OCC (6-10, 0-1 in conference).

The rest of the Pirates shot 50% from the free-throw line (12 of 24).

OCC fell behind, 30-19, at halftime after shooting 25% from the floor.

The Pirates, who turned the ball over 33 times, fell behind 25 points during the second half.

OCC plays at Saddleback on Friday at 5:30 p.m.

COSTA MESA — Jenna Lujan finished with 11 points and six rebounds in the Pirates’ Orange Empire Conference opener Wednesday night.

Michelle Yamasaki contributed 10 points for OCC (11-7, 0-1 in conference).

The Pirates trailed, 28-27, at halftime, but they shot 31.4% from the floor in the second half.

Amanda Deal gave OCC a 48-46 lead with 10:55 left in the game, but the Pirates were outscored, 20-11, the rest of the way. Deal and Samantha Hansen had eight points each.

OCC plays at Saddleback Friday at 7:30 p.m.
