IRVINE — Mikah Maly-Karros score 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the Anteaters in the Big West Conference game Thursday.

It was Maly-Karros’ fourth double-double of the season, which leads the Big West.

Jade Smith-Williams contributed 15 points and nine assists for UCI (4-11, 1-2), while Kim Barnes and Keyonna Johnson scored 11 points each.

The Matadors dropped to 2-10, 0-3.

COSTA MESA — Rachel Copeland scored 19 points for the Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference game Thursday.

Bridgette Reyes and Jaclyn Blied added 12 points each, while Molly Pfohl and Sarah Boyd scored 11 points each for Vanguard (8-1, 4-1 in conference).

The Sunbirds dropped to 3-11, 0-4.

SANTA BARBARA — No. 2-ranked UC Irvine went 1-1 on the first day of the eight-team tournament at UC Santa Barbara.

BYU defeated the Anteaters, 22-30, 30-26, 30-22, 30-27, in the morning.

UCI (2-1) bounced back with a 30-28, 22-30, 30-26, 30-21 win over UC San Diego.

The Anteaters will play against Long Beach State in the fifth-place game today at 1:30 p.m.

COSTA MESA — Greg Scott scored 19 points for the Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference game Thursday.

Elvis Whitelow added 11 points and Alex Chapman finished with 10 points for Vanguard (3-8, 2-3 in conference).

The Sunbirds improved to 12-2, 2-2.
