NEWPORT BEACH — Senior Austin Bagby scored 20 points to help the Sailors improve to 2-0 in the Sunset League Wednesday.

Junior Cody Caldwell added 16 points and 12 rebounds for Newport Harbor (10-8), which will play at Los Alamitos Friday at 7 p.m.

CORONA DEL MAR — Freshman Jack McBean scored the game-winner in the 65th minute in the Pacific Coast League match Wednesday.

CdM (12-0-1, 1-0-1 in league) trailed, 1-0, at halftime. Junior Brian Ford scored on an assist from senior Alex Mainthow in the 43rd minute.

McBean’s game-winner came on a free kick from about 20 yards out. CdM sophomore goalie Connor Gaal had three saves.

The Sea Kings, ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section Division IV, were without senior striker Reed Williams, who missed his fourth game because of a hamstring injury. CdM Coach George Larsen said he nearly played Williams, who has scored 19 goals this season, but decided to sit him so he can have more rest for a key PCL game on Friday.

CdM will play host to University, the defending league champion, at 3:15 p.m. Larsen expects Williams to play.

COSTA MESA — The Mustangs remained in first place in the Orange Coast League Wednesday at Jim Scott Stadium.

Sophomore Brian Delgadillo scored to give Costa Mesa (8-3-2, 2-0-1 in league) a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute. The Eagles answered 20 minutes into the second half with the equalizer.

Mustangs senior goalie Irvin Dorantes had seven saves.

Costa Mesa will face Firebaugh Wednesday.

NEWPORT BEACH — The Sailors remained winless in the Sunset League, dropping to 0-2-1 Wednesday.

CORONA DEL MAR — Sophomore Pippa Saunders scored four goals for the Sea Kings in their Pacific Coast League opener Wednesday.

Casiddy Papa added three goals. Sophomore goalie Alex Musselman had nine saves and senior Margot Money recorded three saves.

CdM (9-5) are in the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions Friday and Saturday.

ANAHEIM — Senior Kory Scott (171-pound division) was one of six Sailors who earned wins in the Sunset League dual match Wednesday.

Scott recorded a pin in 25 seconds.

Freshman Larson Harley (112) picked up his first varsity win with a 10-4 victory. Sophomore Jesus Diaz (119) had a 12-9 win, junior Jeff Bowler (145) recorded a fall in 4:45, junior Bradley Beaudette (189) won, 10-7, and senior Rene Escolero (215) posted a 3-1 triumph.

Newport Harbor (5-7, 0-2 in league) will wrestle at Marina Thursday.
