Special Event:
The community is invited to meet local authors and illustrators at the 23rd annual Authors Festival at the Huntington Beach Central Library.
The library is celebrating the event with events for kids and adults. The children’s department will host a special family story time with author Caroline Hatton at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Tabby Storytime Theater. Hatton will read her books “Where is my Puppy” and “Surprise Moon” and autograph books for sale.
The event is free, and Hatton will be handing out red Asian New Year’s envelopes to kids.
Authors and illustrators will gather at the library for the gala reception’s meet-and-greet at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Some of the authors’ books will be on sale and available to be autographed.
There will also be an award ceremony for the winners of the Amazing Beach Discovery writing and illustration contest, a competition for children to write a story or poem or draw a picture about the beach, at 3:45 p.m. in the Tabby Storytime Theater.
