Police arrest two on burglary suspicion
If it weren’t for a homeowner’s quick reaction and fast response by officers, police say, two men accused of trying to burglarize a Costa Mesa home Wednesday morning might have gotten away.
Police arrested Stephen Jordan, 20, of Santa Ana, and Clifford Lacy, 39, of Costa Mesa, about 4:20 a.m. Wednesday speeding away from the 2100 block of Newport Boulevard, said Lt. Bryan Glass.
Glass said one of the men was acting as a lookout while the other was burglarizing a home nearby when the homeowner woke up. The homeowner heard noise and confronted the burglar who ran away, he said.
Police set up a perimeter in the area and one officer spotted the men’s car speeding away from the area and pulled it over, he said.
The two were booked on suspicion of attempted burglary.
