Transient suspected of more harassment

A local transient with a history of inappropriately touching unsuspecting women in public was arrested Thursday afternoon after police said he was at it again.

Curtis Michael Regulus, 38, was arrested on suspicion of sexual battery after he allegedly bumped his pelvis into a woman’s buttocks at a Juice It Up! on Harbor Boulevard in Costa Mesa.

Police said the woman had just received her drink from the shop and was sitting down when Regulus came up from behind and touched her.

Criminal records show that Regulus has been prosecuted for similar incidents at least four times since 2007.

In each case — two in 2007, one in 2008 and one in 2009 — he was convicted of misdemeanor touching an inappropriate part of another person. In last year’s incident, police said he grabbed a woman’s buttocks.

Court records show he was sentenced to a year in jail for the conviction but had his sentence suspended.
