Wolfpack holding tryouts
The Wolfpack boys U12 program hosts tryouts from 5 to 6:30 p.m. March 1 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. March 7 at the Fountain Valley High stadium. The team had an outstanding season at U11, going 11-1-2 and placing second in the challenging Bronze Omega Bracket. The team is expected to be promoted to Silver in the fall.

Simpson to have send-off
Huntington Beach native Brett Simpson will have a send-off Friday, celebrating his qualification for this year’s Assn. of Surfing Professionals World Tour.
The event is from 5 to 7 p.m. at Huntington Surf and Sport. Simpson, the 2009 U.S. Open of Surfing champion, will be on hand, along with other Hurley riders. A film will be shown documenting Simpson’s road to the ASP. Also, Huntington Beach Mayor Cathy Green will issue Simpson a city proclamation commending him for his surfing excellence.
The event will be just hours before Simpson flies to Australia for his first ASP World Tour event.
