COSTA MESA — Five Lions had two hits each to help Vanguard improve to 2-0 in the Golden State Athletic Conference Thursday.

First baseman William Hamilton went two for four with a walk, two runs and two runs batted in for the Lions (10-1).

Center fielder Tyson Leighton, third baseman Keegan Freeman and designated hitter Kip Masuda each had a run and an RBI to go with their two hits.

Catcher Eric Krzysiak also had two hits.

The Lions overcame a 4-1 deficit, scoring nine runs in innings six through eight.

Pitcher Lance Abbott earned his first win of the season, striking out two and allowing two hits and two walks in three scoreless innings.

COSTA MESA — Jesse Chen dropped just one game in singles for the Pirates in the nonconference match Thursday.

Brad Fisher and Kevin Tran allowed just two games in singles for OCC (7-1). Matt Miller and Tony Wright also won in singles for the Pirates.
