Pet Of the Week

Jackson and Sydney

Sherry’s fiance, Frank, is highly asthmatic, and the couple knew they would have to postpone their wedding plans until after Sherry’s cats, Jackson and Sydney, could find new homes.

The couple were delighted Jan. 23 when the two cats were adopted. But they were returned after two weeks because the new pet-parent was ordered by her company to begin commuting to the Midwest for work again, which left her unable to provide an appropriate home.

Sherry’s cats are almost 2 years old. The siblings Jackson and Sydney have beautiful black-brown sable coats, and their large size is that of America’s oldest natural longhaired breed called the Maine coon.

Maine coons are known to be independent and playful throughout their lives, which seems to be true of the pair. Jackson is a very large cat, while Sydney is a bit smaller. Their gentle disposition, we believe, would make them relaxed around dogs.

“Jackson and Sydney are very attached to each other and constantly fly through the air chasing their favorite furry toy mice. In the morning the toys are all over the bedroom floor like they have brought them to me as gifts, but when they retire they like to cuddle up on the bed with me,” Sherry said.
