William Robinson

Mann, 66 years old, died

peacefully on March 3,

2010 after a courageous

battle with BAC Lung

Cancer. He was born

on August 25, 1943, to

William and Mary Mann.

As a long time resident

of Newport Beach, his

fondest memories was

surfing and fishing along

its sandy beaches in his

youth, and in adulthood, meeting the love of his life,

his wife Trudie Mann and raising their family.

Bill led a rich, wonderful life that left a lasting imprint

on many people in his personal and professional life.

To his professional colleagues, Bill was a pioneer of

the semiconductor test industry who was passionate

about mentoring engineering colleagues new to the

industry. Working with younger engineers kept his

skills sharp, and he encouraged others at his level

within industry to do the same. Bill established the

internship program over his 32 year career at Rockwell

Semiconductor Systems and achieved the IEEE Senior

Fellow and Career & Industry Service Award. To his

friends and family, Bill is remembered most for his

intrinsic goodness, great sense of humor, and infectious

upbeat attitude.

In his retirement, Bill enjoyed globetrotting the world

with his beloved wife, honing his budding chef skills

in the kitchen, and entertaining his many friends.

He leaves behind his wife of 39 years, Trudie, sons

Derek and Brian, brother Bob, and Sister-in-Law

Nannette Mann. The family wishes to express their

thanks to the many friends who have supported them

through this journey.

A “Celebration of Life” service will be held at

Mariner’s Church, 5001 Newport Coast Dr., Irvine,

CA 92603 from 3:00pm – 6:00pm on Sunday, March

14, 2010.
