Truck strikes boy Wednesday night

A 6-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle Wednesday evening, suffering serious but not life-threatening injuries, Costa Mesa police said Thursday.

Lt. Bryan Glass said the accident occurred at 6:15 p.m.

According to police reports, the boy was hit in the 900 block of Mission Drive.

When emergency officials arrived, the boy was conscious and breathing but was bleeding from the head, police said.

He reportedly suffered a broken leg during the accident and was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, police said.

The details of the accident weren’t immediately clear.

The boy was reportedly struck by a 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe, which was at the scene when police arrived, Manley said.
