GARDEN GROVE — Hattie Marshall had two hits, including a two-run home run, and in the circle struck out seven with no walks, while allowing two hits to help the Newport Harbor High softball team to a 13-1, five-inning, mercy-rule, nonleague win at Santiago Wednesaday.

Marshall improved to 3-0 in as many starts.

Mandy Legault, Lauren Gandia and Bella Seccaira had three hits each for the Sailors (11-1). Gandi drove in five runs and Legualt stole three bases.

Newport Harbor plays at Westminster today.

LAGUNA HILLS — Senior Ryan Mix scored six goals for the undefeated Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League match Wednesday.

Freshman Jack Ortleib had three goals, while senior Randall Nelson and sophomore Michael Keasey added two goals each fro CdM (7-0, 4-0 in league).

Also scoring for the Sea Kings were seniors Daniel Noto, Doug Watt and Reid Wallace with one goal each.

CdM will play at La Costa Canyon Saturday at 7:30 p.m. La Costa Canyon is ranked No. 1 in California by laxpower.com. The Sea Kings are ranked No. 5.

BOYS’ SWIMMING

Corona del Mar 103, Irvine 67

IRVINE — Sea Kings Michael Liao and Jared Namba won two events each in the Pacific Coast League meet Wednesday.

Liao won the 100-yard breaststroke in 58.22 seconds, and the 100 freestyle in 48:54. Namba touched first in the 100 backstroke in 53.80, and the 100 butterfly in 52.24.

John Kim won the 500 free in 4:43.17 and Garrett Larson won the 200 individual medley in 2:01.71 for CdM.

Irvine 84

IRVINE — Brynne Wong, Natalie Wong and Margot Money won one event each for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League meet Wednesday.

Brynne Wong won the 100-yard butterfly in 58.72, Natalie Wong won the 500 freesytle in 5:13.71 and Money touched first in the 100 backstroke in 1:05.14.

YORBA LINDA — Mychael Clark shot one-over-par 37 to earn medalist honors and freshman Eli Gomez came up big with a 38 for the Sailors in the Sunset League match at Black Gold Golf Club Wednesday.

Gomez, usually Newport’s sixth man, had the second lowest score of the day. Zach Eddy (41), Travis Russell (43) and Ericson Klein (47) also scored for the Sailors (8-2, 2-0 in league), who play against Los Alamitos today at Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach.

IRVINE — Sophomore Mike Moorhead shot one-over-par 37 to earn medalist honors for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League match Wednesday at Strawberry Farms Golf Club.

Brian Wall (39), Josh Starnes (41) and John Davenport (42) also scored for CdM (11-1, 3-0 in league). Jono Keedy and Steve Bruno both shot 43.

IRVINE — The No. 2 doubles team of Alex Murray and Carter Wheatley swept at love for the Sea Kings in the nonleague match Wednsday.

Murray and Wheatley improved to 25-2 and helped CdM go to 9-1.

CORONA DEL MAR — Gabby Smith scored three goals for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League match Wednesday.

Tiffany Paladin, Madison McHam and Mackenzi McHam scored two goals each for CdM (2-0 in league), while goalie Paige MacMillan had eight saves.

ANAHEIM — Juniors Austin Little, Stephan Vayda and Mark Sakioka won one event each for the Sailors in the Sunset Leauge meet Wednesday.

Little won the 3,200 meters in 10 minutes, 14.3 seconds, Vayda won the high jump (5 feet, 9 inches) and Sakioka won the pole vault (14-3).

ANAHEIM — Senior Melissa Hancock won two events for the Sailors in the Sunset League meet Wednesday.

She won the long jump (16 feet, 1 1/4 inches) and the high jump (4-10). Gwen Gaylord won the 100 meters in 13.2 seconds and freshman Maggie Goodson won the 3,200 in 11:58.5. Junior Kasey Thompson was first in the shot put (36-6 1/2 ), junior Tabitha Goff won the discus (104-0 1/4 ) and junior Allison Krugman won the pole vault (10-6).
