Hotel wants guests to ‘Shop Laguna’

Best Western Laguna Brisas Spa Hotel is offering a promotional package “” Shop Laguna Beach.

Guests will receive as much as a $25 credit per night toward their nightly room rate by shopping within the city limits during their visit. Guests may submit their receipts each evening prior to midnight from any local establishment, which will then be credited against their room rate for that night.

“We feel it is everyone’s responsibility to help stimulate our local economy in any way we can,” said Scott Gaw, director of worldwide sales and marketing for the hotel. “When the guest can save money by staying at our hotel and use those savings to shop in Laguna Beach, business increases throughout the city, the local economy grows and everyone benefits.”

Vinci to again lead Lex Romana

Janice Vinci, a Laguna Beach real estate attorney, has been named 2010 president of Lex Romana for a second term.

Lex Romana, Italian American Lawyers of Orange County, is an Affiliate Bar of the Orange County Bar Assn. Established in 1979, founding members include the Honorable James DiCesare, Frank Barbaro, Joseph D’Antony, John DiCaro, Joseph DiVincenzo, Andrew Lachina and Frank Terreri.

Under Vinci’s leadership, Lex Romana is set to be a provider of continuing legal education for attorney members. Upcoming speakers include the Honorable Robert J. Polis speaking on civil litigation in the courtroom. Polis is retired.

Vinci’s practice focuses on real estate law with an emphasis in real property title issues and title insurance law.

Previously with Fidelity National Financial as in-house claims counsel, she handled title claims on an extensive array of real estate matters from California, Washington, Oregon, Arizona and Nevada. For more information, call (949) 715-1141.

‘Open for Business’ workshop set

The next Open for Business workshop for business owners and others interested in opening or expanding businesses in Laguna Beach will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Community Center, 380 Third St. The meetings are organized by the Business Promotion Task Force.

“We are reaching out to business owners, building owners, commercial Realtors and other professionals to let everyone know that we want to help entrepreneurs realize their vision in Laguna Beach,” said Laguna Beach Mayor and Task Force Co-chairwoman Elizabeth Pearson.

Workshop participants will include members of the Planning Commission, key city staff, Chamber of Commerce officials and successful local business owners, said Planning Commission Chairwoman Anne Johnson, who has helped organize the meetings.
