MISSION VIEJO — Corona del Mar High senior Sarah Keddington broke the meet record in the 1,600 meters, winning in 5:00.3 Saturday.

Keddington, who recently committed to UC Berkeley, also won the 800, open division, in 2:16.05 Friday night. Just two years ago, Keddington went through an intense surgery to repair her spine, as she had been diagnosed with scoliosis.

Melanie Powers won the 3,200 invite in 11:00.35 Saturday.

Newport Harbor’s Ryan Andrews took third in the boys’ shot put, open division (56 feet, 3 inches). Newport Harbor’s Allison Krugman was second in the girls’ pole vault, open division (11-0). The Sailors’ Melissa Hancock tied for third in the high jump (5-4).

COSTA MESA — Ryan Boselo went three for three with three runs batted in for the Eagles in a Beach Pit Classic first-round game.

Josh Dominguez had two RBIs and Alex Trancoso had one RBI for Estancia (9-6), which will play host to Ventura in a quarterfinal game Monday at 2 p.m.

COSTA MESA — Senior Andrew Fulkerson went one for three with an run batted in for the Mustangs in a Beach Pit Classic first-round game.

Senior Garrett Hirsch pitched two scoreless innings for Mesa (6-6),which will play host to Cerritos Monday at 2 p.m. in a consolation quarterfinal game.

Newport Harbor 2

NEWPORT BEACH — The Sailors dropped to 10-3 after the first round game in the Beach Pit Classic.

Newport will play host to La Serna Monday at 10:30 a.m.
