IRVINE — Carson Clark had 23 kills, Jordan DuFault added 15 and Cory Yoder chipped in 14 to help the Anteaters earn a 30-21, 31-29, 28-30, 30-28 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation victory Wednesday at the Bren Events Center.

No. 10-ranked UCI improves to 13-13, 8-1 in conference and pulls into a tie for eighth place with No. 11-ranked Long Beach State (12-14, 8-11) in the MPSF.

The top eight teams qualify for the MPSF postseason tournament.

Clark, who hit .346, added 10 digs and two aces, while Yoder had a career-high six block assists.

Kevin Carroll had seven kills, one solo block and six block assists.

Jeff Schmitz had 57 assists for UCI.

The Anteaters play at UC San Diego Friday at 7 p.m.

CHINO HILLS — Ryan Knapp shot one-under-par 71, the low for the Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference match at Los Serranos Country Club’s North Golf Course Wednesday.

Tyler Paul shot 73, while Kord Tagley and Benny Santa Maria both shot 75. Joe Doody (76) also scored for OCC (7-4 in conference).

The Pirates will play host to conference foes Riverside, Saddleback and Cypress Wednesday at Santa Ana Country Club.

IRVINE — UCI freshman Kristina Smith won at No. 4 singles, beating Idunn Hertzberg, 6-4, 6-7, 7-5, in the nonconference match Wednesday.

The Anteaters (7-10) received its other point when TCU forfeited at No. 6 singles.
