ROLLING HILLS ESTATES — Shane Korber and Ryan Peyton both swept in singles for the Sea Kings in the nonleague match Wednesday.

CdM (12-1) entered ranked No. 4 in the CIF Southern Section Division I coaches’ poll, while Peninsula (12-2) came in ranked No. 2. Matt Fisher and Karl Fletcher swept in doubles for the Sea Kings.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Dillan Freiberg and Ryan Albert each hit a three-run home run, with two strikes against them, in the third inning of the Sunset League game Wednesday.

Newport Harbor (14-3, 4-2 in league) went up 6-0 after the home runs and sophomore pitcher Chase Kapana and Albert helped hold off the Barons. Kapana struck out five, walked four and scattered five hits, as he allowed four earned runs in five innings. Albert earned his third save of the season, getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the sixth and retiring the side in order in the seventh. He struck out three and allowed one hit and no runs.

The Sailors had four hits, as Matt Carpenter doubled and Jacob McCann singled.

Newport Harbor will play host to Fountain Valley Friday at 3:15 p.m.

Costa Mesa 11,

Godinez 6

SANTA ANA — Senior Jesse Fox and junior Tyler Sheffner hit one home run each for the Mustangs in the Orange Coast League game Wednesday.

Fox went two for three with three runs batted in and Sheffner was two for four with three RBIs. Junior pitcher P.J. Maloney went the whole way to earn his fifth win and helped Costa Mesa improve to 9-7, 3-2 in league.

The Mustangs play host to Godinez Friday at 3:15 p.m.

COSTA MESA — For the 14th straight match sophomore Jake Knapp earned medalist honors, this time with a one-under-par 34 in the Orange Coast League match Wednesday at Costa Mesa Country Club’s Mesa Linda course.

Aaron Wood (36), Jake Stone (37), Junior Ramirez (39) and Ryan Burns (39) also helped Estancia (5-9, 5-2 in league) to its best team score of the season.

NEWPORT BEACH — Junior Austin won two events to help the Sailors win their first Sunset League meet of the season Wednesday.

Little won the 1,600 meters in 4 minutes, 38.4 seconds and the 3,200 in 10:24.1. Junior Addison McLaren (2:11.5 in the 800), sophomore Buzzy Yokoyama (19-2 1/4 in the long jump), junior Stephan Vayda (6 feet, 1 inch in the high jump), junior Max Van Bergh (personal-best 14-6 in the pole vault), junior Ryan Andrews (57-5 in the shot put) and sophomore Ethan Cochran (160-0 in the discus) also won for Newport Harbor (1-2 in league).

CORONA DEL MAR — Senior Ryan Mix scored five goals for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast league match Wednesday.

Senior Doug Watt added three goals for CdM (11-1, 6-0 in league).

NEWPORT BEACH — The Sailors had five who won one event each in the Sunset League meet Wednesday.

Senior Gwen Gaylord won the 100 meters in 12.7 seconds. Freshman Maggie Goodson (11:43.2 in the 3,200), senior Melissa Hancock (15 feet, 9 1/2 inches in the long jump), sophomore Kasey Thompson (32-9 in the shot put) and junior Tabitha Goff (112-8 1/2 in the discus) also won for Newport Harbor (0-3 in league).

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — Hillary Bush scored six goals and Torrey Attyah had three goals for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Wednesday.

Goalie Zoe Salaam had 14 saves for CdM (8-3, 5-1 in league).

Newport Harbor 6

LOS ALAMITOS — Juniors Sierra Michaelsen and Amanda Olevsky had two goals each Wednesday at Laurel School.

Newport Harbor senior goalie Paige More had 16 saves.

El Dorado 25, Sage Hill 9

NEWPORT COAST — Goalie Walker Moore had 27 saves for the Lightning in the Sunset League match Wednesday.

Hayden Furey had four goals, while Alyana Lewis and Daria Gordeeva had two goals each for Sage Hill (2-8, 1-3 in league). Danielle Kain scored her first goal of the season.

BOYS’ SWIMMING

Corona del Mar 125,

San Juan Hills 22

CORONA DEL MAR — Michael Liao, Andrew Fisher and Blake Terry won two events each for the Sea Kings, who every event in the Pacific Coast League meet Wednesday.

Liao won the 200-yard individual medley and 100 backstroke and was on two winning relays. Fisher (200 freestyle and 500 free) and Terry (50 free and 100 free) also touched first in their respective events and were each on a victorious relay team.

CdM will play host to Back Bay rival Newport Harbor today at 3:15 p.m.

Costa Mesa 108,

Estancia 60

COSTA MESA — The Eagles’ Asher Twardowski won the 200-yard individual medley and the 500 freestyle in the Orange Coast League meet Wednesday at Estancia.

Connor Graham won the 100 breaststroke. Twardowski, Graham, Matt Thome and Preston Schow won the 200 medley relay in 1 minute, 51.88 seconds, a CIF-consideration time.

Results for the Mustangs were not provided by Costa Mesa.

GIRLS’ SWIMMING

San Juan Hills 19

CORONA DEL MAR — Pippa Saunders and Natalie Wong won two events each for the Sea Kings, who won every event in the Pacific Coast League meet Wednesday.

Saunders, who was on two winning relay teams, won the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 breaststroke, while Wong won the 200 freestyle and 500 free.
