SANTA BARBARA — Newport Harbor High won twice Friday to advance to today’s semifinals.
The Sailors (11-6) opened with a 25-15, 25-19, 25-15 win over San Marcos, as Cody Caldewell (13 kills), Will Connelly (nine kills), Austin Bagby (four kills), Kevin Rakestraw (two kills) and Jackson Carmack (23 assists) contributed to the victory.
Caldwell and Rusty Sary had nine kills each to lead Newport Harbor to a 25-15, 25-17, 25-15 win over Dos Pueblos in the quarterfinals. Zack Martin (eight kills) and Bagby (four kills) chipped in, while Ian Sequeira and Connor Curry had five digs each.

CORONA DEL MAR — Joey Booth had seven kills in the Sea Kings’ 25-15, 25-13, 25-14 Pacific Coast League win Friday.
Weston Nielsen added six kills, while Brandon Anderson had five kills. Joe Ctvrtlik had 16 assists and Nick Curci had nine assists for CdM (12-8, 4-0 in league), which plays host to Beckman Tuesday.

WALNUT — Newport Harbor High’s Maggie Goodson finished fifth in the girls’ invitational 3,200 meters in 11 minutes, 12.94 seconds Friday.
The Sailors’ Steve Michaelsen took second in the boys’ open shot put (51 feet, 10 inches). Newport Harbor’s Trevor Lawrence was third (49-11 1/2 ) and J.B. Salem was fifth (49-3) in the same event.

NEWPORT BEACH — Sophomore Jake Turner had three goals and one assist for the Sailors in the Sunset League game Friday.
Sophomore Riley Robinson and senior Daniel Apple had two goals each for Newport Harbor (7-5, 4-0 in league).

REDWOOD CITY — Senior Ryan Mix had three goals to lead the Sea Kings in the nonleague game Friday.
Senior Daniel Noto and sophomores Michael Keasey and Michael Ortlieb added one goal apiece for CdM (11-2), ranked No. 6 in the state by laxpower.com. St. Ignatius is ranked No. 1.
CdM plays at Palo Alto today.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — The Lightning’s Sean Vogel went four for five with four runs batted in and two runs scored in the Academy League game Friday.
Michael Yorita went three for five with two RBIs, while Mo Kreitenberg (two RBIs), Jimenez (three runs), Patrick Vorwerck and Brandon Zelner each went two for four for Sage Hill (9-4, 6-1 in league). Jimenez struck out five, scattered five hits and allowed one run in five innings.

IRVINE — Brian Ford and Will Morrow both went two for four with a double for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Friday.
CdM (7-11, 4-3 in league) trailed, 3-0, but tied the game in the top of the sixth inning with three runs. But the Vaqueros scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth scoring two unearned runs, as the Sea Kings committed two erroros.
Josh Harrison was one for one with two runs batted in for CdM.
