Chaney resigns as CdM coach

Aaron Chaney is moving to Hawaii with his family and has resigned as girls’ water polo coach at Corona del Mar High, where he guided the Sea Kings the past nine seasons.

The first five seasons featured CIF Southern Section titles, the first one in Division IV and the others in Division II. CdM reached the Division I semifinals in 2006-07 and this past season and played for the championship in the 07-08 and the 08-09 seasons.

Chaney contemplated resigning after his wife, Hermie, gave birth to their first child, Kaia, in March of 2009. But he coached one more season.

He resigned after 26 years as a referee after Kaia was born.
