FOUNTAIN VALLEY — The Sailors finished one-under par as a team, a first in 10 seasons under Coach Scott Tarnow, to claim the Sunset League match Monday at Mile Square Golf Course.

Travis Russell shot three-under 33 to earn medalist honors.

Mychael Clark (34), Marcus Kiel (36), Eli Gomez (38) and Zach Eddy (38) also scored for the Tars (12-3, 5-1 in league).

NEWPORT BEACH — The Sailors won on games, 79-74, after the two teams split 18 sets in Sunset League play Monday.

The win allowed the Tars (7-4 4-2 in league) to join Esperanza in a second-place tie, Newport Harbor Coach Kristen Case said.

Chad Morabito and Clay Friend swept, 6-2, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 3 singles to pace the winners.

Jason Cernius and Troy Arnold posted 6-0, 6-3 wins at No. 1 doubles and Tracy Beblie had 6-3, 6-0 wins at No. 1 singles.

NEWPORT BEACH — Senior Ryan Mix and sophomore Michael Ortlieb had four goals each to lead the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League contest Monday.

Senior goalie Hugh Russell had six saves and senior Randall Nelson had three assists for the winners (13-2, 7-0 in league).
