UCI duo earn honors
Sophomore Carson Clark and junior Jordan DuFault have been named All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation by a vote of coaches.
Clark earned first-team honors for the second consecutive year, becoming UCI’s only two-time first-team selection. The 6-foot-5 opposite leads the team and ranks third in the MPSF in kills (5.01 per game) and points (5.79). He leads the country in service aces with 48 which is a UCI single-season record. He also set the single-season record for attack attempts with 1,180 this season.
DuFault, a 6-4 outside hitter, was named to the second team after ranking ninth in the MPSF in both kills (4.04) and points (4.68). He also averages 2.03 digs and 0.73 blocks per set. He was a third-team honoree in 2009.
The duo has led the Anteaters in kills in all but four matches this season. UCI is the only team to boast of two players who have recorded 30 or more kills in a match this season. DuFault had 30 against USC in the first meeting and Clark had 30 against the Trojans in the second meeting.
No. 7-ranked UCI (15-14) was 10-12 in conference and finished eighth.
The Anteaters visit No. 1-ranked Stanford in an MPSF Tournament quarterfinal Saturday at 7 p.m.
