Moral Of The Story:

“If you have never heard the mountains singing, or seen the trees of the field clapping their hands, do not think because of that that they don’t. Ask God to open your ears so you may hear it, and your eyes so you may see it, because, though few men ever know it, they do, my friend, they do.”

— McCandlish Phillips

The birds sang extra beautifully this morning, calling me outside to enjoy the splendor of the day. A spring orchestra seemed to echo through our windows and my ears, beckoning to me and I simply had to follow the call.

I put on my walking shoes and headed out where the air was clean, the temperature perfect, the sky neon blue. In one direction, I saw the mountains standing majestically, still proudly wearing their scarves of snow. I walked past trees that appeared to be dancing and clapping in the magical breeze of the morning.

A little later I turned toward another direction and gazed at an ocean glistening and sparkling so brightly I was glad I was wearing dark glasses. It didn’t matter where I looked; it felt like all the ripe beauty of spring was exploding in splendor right before my eyes. Even the normally nondescript ground cover seemed to hum a hymn about the glory and goodness of God.

I didn’t hear any human voice, but inwardly it seemed like I heard a feeling or a phrase in my soul that said, “This is just a taste of my creativity and my love.” I felt inwardly warmed and comforted as if I’d just sipped warm milk.

Throughout the rest of the day I found myself singing songs about God’s majesty, love and creativity. Some time, step outside and ask God to help you tune into his songs. I think he delights in having us accompany his creation.

And you can quote me on that.
