The Costa Mesa — Orange Coast Lions Annual Fundraiser, a spaghetti dinner and bingo night, will take place Saturday at the Costa Mesa Senior Center, 695 W. 19th St., according to member Patrick Wines. Dinner is $10 and includes salad, bread, dessert and a beverage. Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m., and Bingo will start at 7:15 p.m. with many prizes. All proceeds support local charities. Tickets can be bought at the door.
LIONS SHOW FASHIONS FOR SUMMER
The Harbor Mesa Lions Club will host its annual fashion show dinner meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Costa Mesa Country Club, 1701 Golf Course Drive. Funds raised will be donated to charity organizations in the community. Boutique fashions with casual and dressy themes will be featured and offered for purchase. Other vendors will sell other items, such as jewelry, accessories and make-up. The public is invited; tickets are $25. LOCAL SOROPTIMISTS TO HOLD 32nd ANNUAL SPRING CONFERENCE
Members of Soroptimist Desert Coast Region will hold their 32nd annual Spring Conference, Friday to Sunday at the Westin South Coast Plaza, 686 Anton Blvd. “Soroptimist Sparkle” will enlighten and educate more than 300 soroptimists from Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego and Imperial counties, as well as Yuma, Ariz.
Keynote speakers will include Lois Berlin, Soroptimist International representative to the United Nations, and Dawn Marie Lemonds, international program director for Soroptimist International. They will discuss the role of Soroptimist with the U.N. Shirley McCoy, director of two early learning programs, Lucky Day Nursery and the Village Treehouse Childcare, will share highlights about the organization and present a motivational workshop on teamwork. Additional workshop leaders include Hanna Jensbo, president of Soroptimist International, who will discuss the organization, and Leigh Wintz, executive director for Soroptimist International of the Americas since 1991, who will discuss effective parliamentary procedure for clubs.
Awards will be presented to local clubs for outstanding achievements in community service projects as well as membership efforts. With almost 95,000 Soroptimist in 120 countries who contribute time and financial support to community-based projects that benefit women and girls, Soroptimist is the world’s largest classified service organization for business and professional women.
