Huntington Beach’s Fitzgerald’s Pub will host a fundraiser for a foundation in honor of a 17-year-old girl murdered in San Diego.

Fitzgerald’s Pub owner Greg Coleman is holding a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for the Chelsea’s Light foundation at 8 p.m. Friday at Fitzgerald’s at 19171 Magnolia St.

Chelsea King disappeared while on a run near her home in San Diego on Feb. 25. Her body was found six days later, the Los Angeles Times reported.

All money raised at the fundraiser will go toward Chelsea’s Light, a foundation started by her parents, Kelly and Brent King, to stop sexual predators.

Chelsea was murdered by John Albert Gardner III, 31, a convicted sex offender, who pleaded guilty to her murder and that of another girl April 16, The Times reported.

Chelsea’s Light, along with San Diego Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher, is trying to pass legislation called Chelsea’s Law to increase the punishment and parole for child predators to include lifetime GPS monitoring.

Coleman was a childhood friend of Brent King, who grew up in Fountain Valley.

Residents are asked to contribute at least $10 for a spaghetti dinner and an orange Chelsea’s Light wristband.
