A man wanted in connection with a 2002 kidnapping in Huntington Beach was arrested Friday.

Nasir Kamarudin Shamsi, 48, was arrested after failing to show up to court in December, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s arrest log.

Shamsi was allegedly involved with five other men in the kidnapping of 37-year-old Sohiel Daliri for ransom in 2002.

The five others have been convicted and sentenced for the crime.

Daliri was abducted from his home March 18, 2002, and held against his will for more than two weeks in various locations around Orange County and Los Angeles.

Detectives found Daliri in a Long Beach motel after the kidnappers contacted his girlfriend for ransom.

The six suspects were found when they used Daliri’s credit cards, officials said.

Shamsi was charged with kidnapping for ransom, a felony offense, in 2002 and pleaded not guilty. He was let out on bail and the case was continued over the years, until he failed to show up to court in December and an arrest warrant was issued.

He is being held in custody at the Central Men’s Jail in Santa Ana.
