LAKE ELSINORE — Defending individual champion Mike Moorhead shot three-under-par 69 Monday and leads by three strokes over teammate John Davenport after the first day of the two-day event at The Links at Summerly.

Josh Starns (73) is third, while Sea Kings Brian Mull and Jono Keedy are tied for fifth at 74.

Steve Bruno (79) is 13th.

The top 16, including ties, advanced to today’s 18-hole final round, from which the top six advance to CIF Southern Section individuals.

COSTA MESA — Jake Knapp shot par 35 to earn medalist honors for the Eagles, who finish the regular season in third place in the Orange Coast League.

Aaron Wood (40), Junior Ramirez (40), Jake Stone (41) and Spencer Roberts (44) also scored for Estancia (8-4 in league) at Costa Mesa Country Club.

Costa Mesa finished 4-8 in league.

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Daniel Lee swept at No. 2 singles and the No. 3 doubles team of Chad Morabito and Clay Friend also swept to pace the Sailors in the Sunset League finale Monday.

Newport Harbor (11-7, 6-4 in league) finishes third in the Sunset League and qualifies for the CIF Southern Section playoffs.
