LONG BEACH — Estancia Hgh sophomore Jake Knapp, who was the medalist in every Orange Coast League boys’ golf match this season, won the league individual title after shooting a two-day total of six-under-par 138 (67-71) at Skylinks Golf Course Wednesday.
He had the lowest score each day. He was one of four who advanced to the CIF Southern Individual Regional at Skylinks May 17.

Academy League finals
MISSION VIEJO — Junior Colton Gyulay won two events and qualified for CIF in four to help Sage Hill School finish second at Saddleback College Wednesday.
Gyulay won the long jump (21 feet, 1/2 inch) and the triple jump (43-7). He was the third leg in the 4x100-meter relay that won and set an Academy League meet record, 43.95 seconds. The previous record was 45.0 set by Oxford Academy in 2008. Gyulay was second in the high jump (5-8). The top three in each event qualified for the CIF Southern Section Division IV preliminaries at Carpinteria High May 15.
Senior Kevin Schaefer won the 100 in 11.03. He was on the 4x100 relay, plus he finished second in the 200 in 22.36 and third in the pole vault (10-6).
Junior Luke Angel won the pole vault (11-0) because he had the least misses after the event was cut short due to darkness.
Jack Percival, who was on the 4x100 relay team, finished second in the long jump (20-7 1/2 ) and third in the 400 (52.51).
Senior Lion Wintemute, also on the 4x100 relay team, was second in the 400 in 51.43. Wintemute sustained a pulled left hamstring in the 200. Sage Hill Coach Khara Covington hopes he can return for the CIF meet.
“With him we really did expect to win [the Academy League title],” Covington said. “We lost significant points with him going down because he also competes in the 4x400 relay.”
St. Margaret’s won the meet with 141 points. Sage had 115.
GIRLS’ TRACK & FIELD

MISSION VIEJO — Sage Hill School senior Megan Culberson won the shot put (28 feet, 2 1/2 inches) at Saddleback College Wednesday.
Culberson also finished third in the pole vault (7-6) to qualify for the CIF Southern Section Division IV preliminaries at Carpinteria High May 15.
Junior Katherine Nagasawa and freshman Elise Sugarman also qualified for the CIF meet. Nagasawa finished second in the 300-meter hurdles in 50.60 seconds and third in the long jump (15-8), while Sugarman took second in the triple jump with a personal-best 32-6.
Sage finished fifth. St. Margaret’s won the meet.

NEWPORT BEACH — Blake Davey and Ryan Albert hit a home run each for the Sailors in the Academy League game Wednesday.
Dillan Freiberg and Steve Guerin had two hits each, while Matt Carpenter added a two-run single for Newport (15-8, 5-7 in league), which plays at Marina Friday at 3:15 p.m.

IRVINE — Corona del Mar High’s Jared Namba qualified first in the 100-yard backstroke in 52.11 seconds to break his school record Wednesday at Beckman.
Michael Liao qualified first in the 100 breaststroke in 57.48, a new PCL record. John Kim quailified first in the 200 individual medley in 1:53.86, a CIF-automatic qualifying time. He qualified first in the 100 butterfly in 51.70, a CIF-automatic qualifying time.
Blake Terry qualified first in the 100 freestyle in 47.70, a CIF-automatic qualifying time. Ari Marks qualified first in the 50 free in 21.89, a CIF-consideration time.
The finals are on Friday.

CHINO HILLS — Newport Harbor High’s Travis Russell, Marcus Kiel and Zach Eddy were among 16 who moved on to today’s finals.
Russell shot a two-over-par 76, Kiel carded a 77 and Eddy a 78 at Los Serrano Country Club’s south course. They’ll try to finish in the top seven to advance to CIF.
