SAN CLEMENTE — Corona del Mar High scored the final six goals to claim an 8-4 victory over Los Alamitos in the semifinals of the U.S. Lacrosse Orange County Southern Section Division I Championships Saturday at San Clemente High.

The win allows the top-seeded Sea Kings (19-2) to advance to the title match against No. 2-seeded Foothill, Tuesday at 7:45 p.m. at Laguna Hills High.

Foothill defeated CdM, 10-8, in last year’s title match to claim its third straight Southern Section title. But CdM posted a 7-6 win in overtime against the Knights in a nonleague match on March 20 at Peninsula Park.

Defensive middies Alex Swigert, Justin Tam and Blake Burkhart, as well as defenders Alex Mainthow, J.D. Abbott and Donald Dalton, combined with goalie Hugh Russell (nine saves), to blank the Griffins the final 2 1/2 periods.

Ryan Mix, Randall Nelson, Kyle Canale and Daniel Noto had two goals apiece for the winners, who were held down by Los Alamitos goalie Brad Brandenburg, who amassed 15 saves.
